Our Nursery

0-5 years:
Indoor and Outdoor play ares

The children's play environment is very important and we must ensure that we allow children time both inside and outside the setting to explore all opportunities. Our indoor rooms are mostly furnished and resourced with wooden and natural materials, they all include the areas of learning for children.

Babies 0-2 Years:
Caterpillar Room

The children have a large room which is separated into different areas, the children have a wide range of accessible resources and keyworkers aim to provide opportunities for children to develop in the 3 prime areas, PSED, CL and PD. Keyworkers will plan according to the children's individual needs, interests, and requirements. There will be lots of fun, sensory and heuristic play and lots of time for cuddles, rhymes and songs.

Toddlers 2-3 Years:
Cocoon Room

The children will benefit from a large space which has their own nursery entrance and door to the outdoor area, the room has opportunities to be independent and to provide new learning opportunities for the children, they will aim to teach the children about sharing and taking turns, potty/toilet training, using fine and gross motor skills, including feeding themselves and learning how to dress and undress these will include activities in the 3 prime areas of learning and begin to incorporate the other learning areas also.

Preschool 3-5 Years:
Butterfly Room

The pre-school area provides a space for the children to have opportunities in all the 7 learning areas, this includes PSED, CL, PD, Literacy, Maths, Knowledge and Understanding and Expressive Arts and Design, the children will learn to perfect their independent skills and practice new skills e.g. writing names, counting and quantities, learning to read, carrying out tasks and being ready to go to big school. The nursery will liaise with schools and parents to ensure a smooth transition period for the children at this time.

Areas in the garden:

All the children will have access to the outdoor area, we have a sheltered area which can be used in different weather conditions and for smaller children and a large garden area which offers space and opportunities for children in all the 7 learning areas, this includes a mud kitchen and planting area, space for riding bikes and learning about road safety, ball games, climbing area and spaces for sitting and relaxing.

The setting uses a Tapestry online journal to track the children's progress, this is available for parents on a login system and they will be able to see any updates, activities and pictures of their children as they get uploaded by the keyworker, this is also an opportunity for parent partnership and for parents to leave comments and ideas.
